TOSHIBA INSTALLS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA'S FIRST AQUILION 64 CFX AT THE NEWPORT COAST ADVANCED IMAGING

TUSTIN, Calif., May 5, 2005 – Setting new standards in image quality, acquisition time and diagnostic capabilities for cardiac computed tomography (CT) imaging, Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. (TAMS) today announced the installation of its Aquilion^TM 64 CFX multislice CT system designed for cardiac applications at the Newport Coast Advanced Imaging in Newport Beach, Calif.

Most Advanced 64-Slice CT System
Built on the same platform as the Aquilion 32 CFX, the Aquilion 64 CFX features the industry’s most advanced multi-detector CT imaging technology available.  Utilizing Toshiba’s unique 64-row Quantum detector, the Aquilion 64 CFX is designed to deliver high-speed, high-resolution cardiovascular imaging with the lowest noise and most anatomical coverage.

The Quantum detector also enables the Aquilion scanner to acquire 64 simultaneous slices of 0.5 mm with each 400-millisecond gantry revolution.  The result is the most precise isotropic imaging of the heart, or any region of the body, during a breath-hold under 10 seconds.
