WHAT: Dr. Joao Lima, associate professor at the Johns Hopkins
University School of Medicine and member of the international CorE 64 investigational
team, will speak about coronary artery imaging during a presentation titled: Coronary
Artery Imaging with Aquilion 64. The presentation is aimed at providing a
practical overview to cardiac imaging using the latest multislice CT technology*.
WHEN/WHERE: The event will take place on Monday, Nov. 28 at 6:30

WHY: Industry-leading multislice computed tomography (CT) technology
aids in the early detection and treatment of heart disease. The AquilionTM 64
CFX from Toshiba America Medical Systems features the most advanced cardiac imaging
technologies for faster and more comfortable studies to accurately examine coronary
arteries through noninvasive CT scans.
WHO: A leading manufacturer of 64-slice CT technology and sponsor
of the industry’s first international multi-center clinical study evaluating 64-slice
CT technology, Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. is serving as host of this
international CT event.
About CorE 64: In November 2004, Toshiba launched CorE 64 (Coronary
Evaluation on 64), an international collaboration with its foremost luminary partners
to investigate the use of multislice CT as the primary diagnostic tool for detecting
cardiovascular diseases and disorders, as compared to cardiac catheterization.
The CorE 64 multi-center study participants include: Johns Hopkins University School
of Medicine in Baltimore; Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston; Leiden
University Medical Center in the Netherlands; Humboldt University, Campus Charité
Mitte in Germany; INCOR Heart Institute of the School of Medicine Hospital, São
Paulo University in Brazil, Mount Elizabeth in Singapore, Toronto General in Canada,
and Iwate Medical University in Japan.
About the Aquilion 64 CFX
The Aquilion 64 CFX delivers high-speed, high-resolution images, which
allows physicians to capture precise images of any area of the body, including the
rapidly moving heart and lungs, which frequently appear blurry when scanned by a
traditional CT scanner. This fast scanning capability allows important diagnostic
information concerning the heart to be obtained within a single breath-hold as short
as six to ten seconds, while a CT angiogram requires a full 15 seconds. The
Aquilion CFX delivers superior images that enable physicians to clearly visualize
the heart, vessel walls and surrounding structures to detect the early onset of
coronary heart disease and reduce the need for high-risk surgical procedures.
